The National Autistic Society has issued a statement regarding the draft provisions of the Learning Disabilities and Autism (LDAN) Bill.

This new legislation is intended to improve the lives of autistic people and those with learning disabilities by ensuring they have better access to support and services.

The draft provisions outline several key areas of focus, including improvements in healthcare, education, and social care.

The society welcomes the introduction of the bill but emphasizes that the final legislation must be robust enough to make a real difference in people's lives.

There are calls for clearer legal protections and more consistent delivery of services across the country.

The bill also seeks to address the long-standing issues of assessment waiting times and the lack of appropriate housing for neurodivergent people.

Public consultation on the draft provisions is expected to follow, providing an opportunity for the community to share their views and influence the final outcome.

The National Autistic Society remains committed to working with the government to ensure that the LDAN Bill fulfills its potential and leads to positive, lasting change for all neurodivergent person in the United Kingdom.
