Families supporting autistic and severely disabled relatives are warning that the national social care system is completely failing to provide essential support.
Unpaid carers across the country report facing enormous struggles to secure adequate care for their loved ones, leading to devastating emotional and financial consequences for their own lives.
Many families feel abandoned by a system that demands they sit quietly and endure extreme hardship without sufficient resources or funding.
The complex needs of people with neurodevelopmental conditions often require highly specialised and consistent care, which is becoming increasingly difficult to access due to widespread resource shortages and systemic delays.
Relatives argue that they are being forced to sacrifice their careers, mental health, and financial stability to fill the massive gaps left by inadequate social services.
The ongoing crisis highlights a desperate need for urgent reform and a significant increase in funding to ensure that vulnerable people receive the dignified care they deserve.
Advocacy groups are demanding immediate government action to prevent further families from reaching the breaking point and to build a robust social care infrastructure that truly protects the most vulnerable citizens.
