Advocates launch urgent petition for new disability legislation
Proposed laws aim to protect neurodivergent community rights

A powerful new petition has been launched by leading charities, urgently calling for the introduction of the Learning Disabilities and Autism Neurodivergence Bill to safeguard the rights of neurodivergent people.
The proposed legislation aims to address severe systemic inequalities and provide a robust legal framework to ensure autistic individuals receive appropriate support, healthcare, and educational accommodations.
Campaigners argue that current laws are dangerously inadequate, leaving too many neurodivergent people vulnerable to discrimination, inadequate care, and institutionalisation.
The new bill seeks to mandate mandatory neurodiversity training for all public sector workers, improve access to timely diagnosis, and enforce stricter regulations on the use of restrictive practices in care settings.
The petition has rapidly gained traction, reflecting widespread public frustration with the government's sluggish response to the ongoing crisis in neurodivergent care.
Advocates are urging citizens to sign the petition to demonstrate massive public support and force lawmakers to prioritise this critical issue.
