UK home for autistic adults put in special measures

Home receives damning report after CQC inspection

A residential care home for autistic adults in Worcester has been placed in special measures after the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated it "inadequate" across all areas.

Bethany Lodge, managed by the Accomplish Group, was inspected in October 2025 following whistleblowing reports from staff and external professionals.

The subsequent report identified six breaches of legal regulations and highlighted serious safety concerns.

One significant incident detailed by inspectors involved builders leaving hazardous items in a person's room.

The report stated that without the inspectors' intervention to move the person, they would have been at risk of "significant harm or potential death".

Inspectors also noted that a "significant injury" sustained by a resident in August 2025 had not been investigated.

The culture at the home was described as causing anxiety for the people living there.

In one example, an agency staff member was observed ignoring a person while resting their feet on furniture and using a mobile phone.

The home had previously been rated "good" in 2017.
