An article in The Guardian has highlighted the importance of minor, yet impactful, workplace accommodations for neurodivergent employees.
It uses the anecdote of being "terrified of the tea round" to illustrate the social and sensory struggles faced by autistic and ADHD people in neurotypical work environments.
Simple adjustments (such as flexible hours, clear written communication, and noise-cancelling headphones), it argues, can be very effective ways to unlock valuable talent within a company's staff team.
But sadly, the fear of discrimination or being judged still prevents many neurodiverse people from even disclosing their diagnosis or asking their employer or co-workers for help, support, or reasonale adjustments.
