A new report indicates widespread pessimism among teachers regarding forthcoming government Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) reforms in England.
While 90% of teachers surveyed agree the current system is failing, a significant majority fears that the planned overhaul, which focuses on supporting more children in mainstream schools, will negatively impact pupils, parents, and schools due to a perceived lack of funding and capacity.
Concerns centre on the difficulty of teaching diverse needs without adequate resources and a belief that the reforms risk reducing children's legal rights to support, underscoring a deep lack of faith in policy interventions to improve outcomes.
